A group of 21 photos of the 17th /21st Lancers these images were taken in Meerut India in 1938, when the regiment was fully mechanised. The images show various vehicles, Vickers light tanks and parades. The photos are of various sizes but are in Good condition.
Not long after the photos were taken the regiment was moved back to UK and by October 1940 were deployed in the defence of the south east coast of England against Germany invasion , later on being moved to the western desert So these are rare glimpse of the British army in India during the Raj at the unique time in history when the British army traded in its horse cavalry for armoured vehicles.
